My name is Marbiya. I am a cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist and a psychology graduate. Years ago, I got divorced and became a single mother. Although I worked hard and gained my degrees and credentials, I was always on edge and prone to anxiety. My social anxiety prevented me from expressing myself, and I suffered much due to constant panic attacks. I experienced chronic pain and fatigue. I could not connect with others on a deeper level, and I struggled with setting healthy boundaries.
However, what is essential is today, I am a confident, authentic, self-assured person with a massive amount of unconditional self-love and enthusiasm for life. How did I do that? Read on.

I tried various healing modalities over the past seven years, and most of the things I did took me deeper into my pain instead of relieving them. So I got stuck in feeling and thinking in the same way for years.

Through my education in psychology, I got to know cognitive behavioural therapy, got to learn the relationship between cognition, emotion, and behaviour. Cognitive-behavioural therapy focuses on challenging and unhelpful cognitive distortions (e.g., thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes) and behaviours, improving emotional regulation, and developing personal coping strategies that target solving current problems. So, we focus on the here and now and solving the actual problem to improve your life quality. This type of therapy invited you to accept your past as it is and change your narration of what happened. Exposure therapy is a huge part of CBT. It is an excellent way of overcoming anxiety, phobia, and stress responses to specific situations.

What is Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH)?

I had always been skeptical about hypnotherapy. The stage performance was very misleading. The idea of being under someone else´s control was not appealing to me. However, through my education in CBH at The UK College of hypnosis & hypnotherapy, I learned the evidence-based CBH and amazed by its effect. I started to do self-hypnosis and changed my self-talk in a way that increased my confidence and self-acceptance.

So, CBH is the hypnotherapy that uses a cognitive behavioural approach to intervene in the unhealthy habits of thinking and feeling loop, without the state of trance. Hypnosis is not something that is done to you; it is something that you participate actively using your imagination’s power.

I am more interested in teaching you the art of self-hypnosis and giving you the tools you need to improve your life and no longer need a therapist’s hand. I want to see you fearlessly enjoy life and be your authentic self!

How does it work?

Humans are habitual beings. We learn a certain way to think, feel, and behave when we were children and continue this process as adults, and we call it conditioning. Due to our conditioning, we are stuck inside of a cycle of thinking-feeling-acting in a certain way. Often people struggle with breaking the unhealthy habits of thinking, feeling, and behaving due to physical discomfort that follows with resistance. The resistance is the barrier between the subconscious mind and the conscious mind, and during hypnosis, we can break this barrier and suggest a direct change to the subconscious mind. Once the subconscious’s content matches the conscious mind, there will be no resistance to think, feel and behave in a new way.

It does not have to be a complicated process, and you are in control while you are in hypnosis. Nothing can be suggested to you without your willingness to accept the suggestion! Again, it is not about controlling you. It is about handing you the control of changing your mind!

It is not about solving the mystery of your past and analysing why things happened!

We think about the past when the present situation becomes challenging to deal with. We look for someone or something to blame and feel victimised by our parents, childhood teachers, or family members. You gain nothing by keep thinking about your past. The only thing you can do is accept the past and choose to let go of the victim! We are not here to ask why something happened. We are here to focus on what is happening right now and right here and make it better.
